Essam Quraishi, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and the founder of Gastrointestinal and Liver Consultants in Santa Ana, Irvine, and Anaheim, California.
Dr. Quraishi graduated from medical school at Deccan College of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, India. Moving to the United States, he completed his internal medicine residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and remained for his fellowship in gastroenterology in 2005. During his fellowship, Dr. Quraishi participated in multiple studies and presented original research on quality control in screening colonoscopies. Dr. Quraishi presented this research at several national gastroenterology conferences. Later in his career, Dr. Quraishi’s painstaking work on pancreatitis in patients with renal failure was published to high acclaim.
Dr. Quraishi has a deep interest in general gastroenterology and hepatology and is well-equipped to handle all general pathology in these areas. His areas of interest include viral hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and screening for colon cancer. Dr. Quraishi is well versed with the latest therapies for Hepatitis C, including interferon and ribavirin sparing treatment. He is experienced in administering the newest therapies for Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Dr. Quraishi believes in cultivating relationships with his patients and treating each patient as a whole. His philosophy is that you cannot treat an ailment the same for every patient; instead, each patient has to be approached individually, and the provider must tailor a treatment plan to fit the needs of each patient.
Dr. Quraishi enjoys playing chess, tennis, and soccer when not at the office. He also enjoys spending his free time with his lovely wife, Dr. Fatima, and their three young children.
